Some Kind of Wonderful...
This past week was my last week working at Kahala Mall. When I reflect back, I am so thankful for all the friendships I had made, the lessons learned, and all the personal growth I experienced, personal and professional.
Sometimes the way you see someone can change, I really do think that there is a lot of good in everyone. Sometimes it is hard to see it at first, which is why patience and compassion are important. Everyday, I am always thinking about the million of things that I have to get done, but I am going to try and step back, and when it can get challenging, remember the good in each person and that the task or situation can be solved. I reflect back on how I handled situations at my previous job and see that I have grown up a lot. I see that there may have been ways that I could have resolved a situation differently. I know I cannot change what has been done but rather apply the lessons I have learned moving forward.
I am not the most patient person, and it is a trait I would like to improve on. I think that the amount of patience one has, grows over time. I have been fortunate to have the last few of weekends off, and I have been able to appreciate those days and spend it with the ones that I love.
It is funny how on most days- we will be much more forgiving of a customer or a stranger than we are to the ones that we are close to such as family and friends. I am going to try my best to be understanding to all. There will be bad days, sure, but hopefully the good will out weigh the bad.
Self reflection is necessary when learning and growing as a person. I want to thank my co-workers, friends, and family that have been so patient with me, and that have so much patience with me. Thank you, you are truly appreciated and loved.

More than..Just Tacos
Over the weekend I scored some great gift certificates to Just Tacos. I rounded up the troops and went on a road trip to Mililani. When we got there, the place was packed! The hostess was awesome, seating very quickly and once when we were seated, we had a very friendly waiter. He explained the menu and answered all my questions (I am kind of a Tex Mex/ Mexican food snob, because I am from Texas).
I ordered my favorite, the Enchilada Tacos with verde sauce, it comes with three cheese filled enchiladas, covered in sour cream, beans, and Mexican rice. $8.99
My girlfriend Karlyn ordered the Taco Salad. It was a salad in a crispy tortilla shell, filled with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. $9.99
Michelle had the Chicken Fajitas that were mixed with red and green peppers, onions, and served on a sizzling cast iron skillet. $14.99
And to save the best for last... the Ultimate Taco, and it sure was! It was very meaty and saucy. I don't eat beef, or many land creatures, however, according to my guys friends- they loved it! $11.99
After dinner, we enjoyed the live entertainer, he sang classics like Tequila! Our hostess came by after to tell us about their special Cinco de Mayo celebration and every Saturday night from 10PM-2AM they have salsa dancing. I did not know that Mililani was so happening! Over all, it is a great place to eat, hang out, and have fun.

Loving Lily Lotus
On Sunday, I spent time with my favorite green gal, @TrulyJoannies. We walked from our house to the cutest little yoga boutique, Lily Lotus on 12th Avenue.
"Lily Lotus is inspired by the practice of living, living in harmony with the body, the mind and the world we live in." When I walked into Lily Lotus, I felt this great positive energy.
As Miu says, "I can live in them," and I too want to build my collection to live in comfort and style.
Thank you Miu and Joannie, I am in love- In love with Lily Lotus! *Photo credit to Joannie

Joannie introduced me to Miu who was my fashion diva. Miu and Joannie were so much fun to be with. I felt like I have known them forever. Miu helped me break out of my shell and try on different colors and styles. I am always drawn to monochromatic colors, but here, because I was able to try on colors that I normally would never try, it made me feel like a different person! I tried on the pink Chakra Practice Cami, and it put a smile on my face, I felt happier and uplifted. *Photo credit to Joannie
Some of my favorites were the Logo Practice Cami, Bamboo Racer-back Tank, Bamboo Wrap Top, Bamboo Palazzo Pants. I love the bamboo fabric, it is light weight yet when layered will provide warmth which is great for work and traveling. The way the patterns are cut, they are form fitting yet comfortable. *Photo credit to Joannie

Lily Lotus also carries a variety of jewelery and other yoga goodies.

BYOC
Bring your own chopsticks! After reading @Melissa808’s blog Urban Mix Plate, “Saving the Earth, 1 Chopstick at a Time” it inspired me to purchase a pair of ecohashi. Instead of using disposable/wooden chopsticks, ecohashi is the green solution when dining out.
According to the Independent News website:
“China is the world's largest maker of disposable chopsticks, with more than 300 plants employing about 60,000 workers. Since the start of the decade, the country has exported nearly 165,000 tons of chopsticks, with 15 billion pairs finding their way to dinner tables in Japan and South Korea. Environmentalists warn that if China continues to use timber at current levels, China's remaining forests will be gone in about a decade.” http://bit.ly/Lhyjt
It all starts with us. We make can make a different by bringing our own utensils so that eateries can cut costs and also save trees! Ecohashi’s fabric wrap can also double as a napkin, and is machine washable. Next time when going out, remember to BYOC!
To purchase ecohashi, you may go online or visit the following stores:
Red Pineapple - Ward Centre
Cottage by the Sea - Ward Warehouse
Global Creations - Haleiwa
North Shore Swimwear - Haleiwa
Plantation Home Decor - Kapolei
Island Treasures at the Marina - Hawaii Kai
For more information on ecohashi, please visit:

Respect Your Mother!
At Kahala Mall's Therapy Boutique, I saw this super cute shirt, "Respect Your Mother" and I totally wanted to wear it for Earth Day! Too bad to I waited too long and they are now sold out.
(Note to self: If you see something you like that is reasonable, get it!)
Therapy Boutique has a lot of cute shirts, dresses, and accessories.
To see the latest styles and trends, visit Therapy Boutique's Facebook site: http://bit.ly/9rPAds.
I hope that Therapy Boutique will get some more of the tees soon and if so, I hope that I can look like the super star below!

Happy Earth Day!
I think it is great that everyone is becoming more aware of taking care of our planet! Hopefully, with this great day, starts a movement for people to be inspired to make Earth Day every day! I was not always the environmentally conscious person I am today. Many people and organizations have helped me become more aware, which then influence me to make better choices. @macrohawaii said it best: "The fire to light the world begins with but a single spark"
Below is some history on how Earth Day came about, my friend actually thought it was a made up holiday by Hallmark!
Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in held on April 22, 1970.[1] Earth Day is celebrated in spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Earth Day Network, a group that wishes to become the coordinator of Earth Day globally, asserts that Earth Day is now observed on April 22 on virtually every country on Earth.[2] World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 in a different nation every year, is the principal United Nations environmental observance.[3] Many communities also celebrate Earth Week, an entire week of environment-related activities, the first of which occurred in Philadelphia in 1970 (starting April 16 and culminating on Earth Day, April 22.)[4]

Kanu Hawaii: Day 1
I recently joined Kanu Hawaii to learn more about how I can make a difference in my community and keep our beautiful island of Hawaii, beautiful.
I recently have made five commitments:
-Go to farmers' markets and buy as much from local food sources as possible
-Change all the bulbs in my home to compact fluorescent (CFLs) or light emitting diodes (LEDs)
-Volunteer my time with a non profit organization.
-Conserve water at home
-Buy locally-made products and from locally-owned companies whenever possible
It is great to see how this organization is growing and I plan to make a new commitment each week. I am so excited to be a part of this positive movement!

Happy Valentine's Day!
This Sunday is Valentine's Day! According to Wikipedia, "On February 14, Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love and affection between intimate companions". If you haven't already there is still time to get something for that special someone! I am super excited to spend my Valentine's Day weekend with the people that I love most!
Because I love myself, and JCrew, I bought the Jackie Cardigan in light citron. I am so excited for this to come to my front door. JCrew has the best sweaters, specifically, cardigans!
If you are looking for great gift ideas, relationship advice, or ways to celebrate, below are my top favorite sites:

New Year, New Jenn
Many Americans start their year off with resolutions that they will never fulfill. This year I have made it simple and narrowed my resolutions to 3 main goals I would like to accomplish.
Personal
1. Save save save- money and resources. Now a days, I want to save every penny I have and not waste anything. As I grow older, there is just more responsibility and more expenses.
2. Be thankful and count my blessings. After watching the tragedy in Haiti and the other disasters that are going on the the world, my "bad day" is nothing compared to what other people in the world have to face.
3. Be Happy. Just as simple as that.
Professional
1. Read everything twice. I am the type of person who skims through everything and wants to reply to email immediately. However, sometimes this does more harm than good. It may take me longer to answer people, but at least I know that I will have checked the spelling, grammar, and content of what I will be sending, and to be sure I have addressed all the questions that the person may have asked.
2. Be more patient. This is an ongoing battle, but I can do it.
3. Think about what I want to say, before saying it. This is something I try every year as well. I think slowing down in general will be better for my mind and health.
There is a site http://2010resolutions.org/ that shows the top resolutions for this year....and of course like all Americans I vow to get fit and lose weight :)
